Apparently, back in late September 2022, I recorded 20 minutes of an odd procedural piano system as it ground out endless variations of minor key melancholia, added it to a pile of forgotten projects scattered across various hard drives, and never looked back.

This morning I stumbled across it again. For whatever reason I thought it might be nice to re-record it through the nice little chain of digital stutters and analog circuitry I currently have set up here in Studio Komoy. Then I found myself sculpting, editing, weaving; a dash of extra distortion there, a hint of human intention there, tucking some kick drums underneath low piano notes, and how about hiding some flutes and micro-tuned sawtooths in that little frequency?... Accidentally lost an hour or so riding the weird waves of these patterns and now I have ended up here, with twenty minutes of uncalm, off-kilter, not-quite-repetition.

So here you are. It's called riptide stutter [ei_260922 -> ar270126].

Maybe it could be a useful audio salve for your afternoon commute? or for your existential collapse? Just something to soundtrack your rainy Tuesday? Or perhaps it could serve as a useful somber ballast for your otherwise unbridled, overwhelming joy?

However you use it, should you choose to, I hope it helps get you through the day.
